For us, sustainability does not end at the hotel room door - it starts with the selection of our food and partner businesses. Through the targeted purchase of regional, organic and fair-trade products, we promote responsible value creation and at the same time strengthen the regional identity of the Ötztal.
Our focus in purchasing:
✓ Proof of origin for food - every year we publish a detailed list of food origins to ensure maximum transparency. ✓ Preferably organic - preferably regional ✓ Eggs exclusively from free-range farming & organic quality ✓ Increasingly high proportion of organic food - preferably from the region ✓ Fair-trade coffee & tea - for fair conditions along the supply chain ✓ Cooperation with local businesses and artists - for short distances and authentic quality
Our goal: We currently stock individual foods with organic certification. Over the next few years, we aim to gradually increase the proportion of organic food and beverages. Our focus is on a combination of organic quality and regional origin - whereby regionality is clearly our priority.

Through targeted energy management measures, we focus on the efficient use of resources and actively contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions - for a stay that is not only good for you, but also good for the environment.
Our most important contributions to energy-efficient hotel operations:

Avoiding waste - closing loops
Conscious use of resources is particularly evident where it is often overlooked: in the daily handling of waste. At the Vivea Hotel Umhausen, we rely on well thought-out recycling management, consistent waste separation and resource-conserving processes - so that less is disposed of and more is recycled.
Our measures for less waste and more responsibility:
✓ Consistent waste separation in cooperation with regional waste disposal partners ✓ Zero waste menu - weekly menu selection with a focus on avoiding leftovers ✓ Conscious menu planning to avoid food waste ✓ Recycling of cooking fats (as a partner of Bio Oilwe help to ensure that used cooking oil is recycled in line with the circular economy) and printer toner (Kyocera system) ✓ Green Day - one day a week without room cleaning (can be extended on request) ✓ Avoidance of unnecessary packaging at breakfast (except allergy products) ✓ Reusable packaging in the kitchen, wellness & cleaning ✓ New waste management concept to further optimise internal processes ✓ Reusable cleaning products: We minimise waste by using reusable containers and dosing systems that significantly reduce our cleaning agent consumption
